Ways to reuse scrap wood

We have lots of scrap wood in our garage and wanted to find ways to reuse the little pieces of wood. So, I decided to try mod podge a photo on a 5x7 MDF wood.  My first photo was printed from card stock paper. It did not come out so good as you can see the strikes from the mod podge. The 2nd photo came out better than the first.

Cut a piece of scrap wood the size you want
  mod podge
  scissors
  paint

You see the strikes on this photo above. I think I added to much mod podge to it!
Once you have the size of your choice, then you paint the edges the color you want. I did black on both since the were black & white photos. The first photo I mod podge  the wood, back of the photo & on top photo. The 2nd photo (pic with my 2 boys together) I  put mod podge behind the photo ONLY. You really need  a very very thin layer of mod podge. Get a piece of cloth once you put the photo on the wood. Slowly rub all around so the photo won't bubble. Let it dry for 20 minutes. Then get a dry sponge and smudge around the edges with black paint ( or any color you using). Last enjoy your pictures.

Ohh Why I love coke so much!!!

Today, I had to clean my stove and let me tell you how much I hate doing that. Usually, I have either my mom or mother-in-law do that for me. If I need to clean it on my own I use the baking soda, vinegar, & dawn soap recipe. This recipe never works for me. It just works a little bit but never had it super clean. Well, today I had to clean out the stove and did the baking soda recipe left it there for over an hour. Then I decided to start cleaning it out and let me tell you my stove was a huge mess inside. Sorry, I didn't take a picture of it before I cleaned it. Either way, It was so sticky inside and nothing was scrubbing off. After, scrubbing for more then 5 minutes not even half the stove was clean. I was about to give up when I glanced over my kitchen table and had my zero coke still half full. Right away It clicked to me that my husband is using coke to clean rusty pipes. So, I said to myself this has to clean the grease out of my stove, too!  Let me tell you I poured my half coke in the stove. I started scrubbing it and a miracle started taking place right before my very eyes. The grease started to come out so easy that I did not believe it at first.  It was cleaned in less then 5 minutes
From now on coke is my recipe for cleaning out my stove!!
Next time I will do a before  and after picture.
This is the first time In my life I cleaned my stove like this.

Reupholster my kitchen chairs

My other DIY projects was my kitchen chairs! I was not a fan of my chairs for 2 reasons. First, the fabric was so difficult to clean. Second, I did not care about the plain fabric color. So I decided to change them up a little.  Last week I went out to Joann's and bought a fabric I liked. Total of 3 yards for the fabric came to $19.07. So today I decided to reupholster them with the help of my mother-in-law.

The supplies that I needed for this project was

Scissors
Staple gun & Staples
Measuring tape
Pliers
Fabric

Making your own laundry detergent...

This past weekend, finally got myself to make a fresh batch of homemade laundry detergent. I had all the ingredients in hand. I decided to make the powder version.

Here is the recipe I did

4lbs of Borax
4lbs washing soda ( Arm & Hammer brand)
2 Bars of Fels Naptha soap
1 small container of Oxyclean ( optional)

Grate your soap bar first. Then toss all ingredients in a big bucket. Love the smell of the detergent!! Mix all and put in a jar or container. Since I have a HE washer I put it directly into the washer drum instead of dispenser. I use 2 tablespoon per a load. All I can say I love it!!!

For my first project I decided to build a airplane shelf. If anyone is interested in one, let me know. Email me if your interested.
