1972 Desk turned into a Vanity

Hi All!

Let me just say that now with kids back to school and sports I have been super busy lately!  Honestly, I don't mind being busy at all. Well, I was so happy to find this 1972 Vintage French Provincial desk. It was in great shape. With that being said, I thought I'd try to be a little creative and make a vanity out of the desk. Here is the desk. The stool was from an estate sale I went to about a month ago.

So, as I mentioned this was in good shape. I learned a lesson on this desk. I thought the top was solid wood but I was wrong!! I started rough sanding it and it started to bubble up. I kept trying again and in another section and the same happened. I stopped sanding looking and touching the spot that bubbled up and it felt like a particle board. Oh my it was a disaster!. The round edges was solid wood but the center whole piece was not. Here is a picture of what happened. I primed it to see if it would cover up but didn't. Called my husband down to see it and he said that it would be best to take the top off and get solid wood
Off to Home Depot we picked up wood. Once we got home we slowly started to take apart the old top. Unscrewing the top off.
Now it's a bare top. Than Hubby traced the old top to the new wood. He cut it out looking like this.
Next we placed it back to the base and screwed the top on and NOW we have a desk again.

He wanted to curve the edges like the old top, but I told him not to. Back to sanding it lightly, prime it and finally went with  Pink color. Once, I painted it pink I knew I had to give it a spark by adding Gold Metallic Krylon spray paint. The gold added a Wow factor to the desk.
Here it is  After all!
Gold dazzle edges and legs. The stool painted blue and my vintage mirror spray painted it with Gold Metallic spray paint
Didn't it turn out perfect?

Thanks for stopping by!
Have a blessed day.
Maria
